Nineteen days into the 2024-25 season and there are eight unbeaten teams, highlighted by San Francisco City, the top-ranked team in the CCCMBCA poll, at 7-0. San Francisco City leads a contingent of unbeatens in the Coast-North. Currently, five of the eight teams in the conference remain unbeaten at this point of the season.
In its only remaining game in November, San Francisco will visit Saratoga for a showdown with #2 West Valley, the defending state champions, on Friday at 5:30 pm. West Valley edged Fullerton for the second spot in this week's poll thanks to its three-point victory over Fullerton at home earlier this month. After hosting San Francisco, West Valley closes out the month with a road game at Marin.
Meanwhile, #3 Fullerton closes out the month with perhaps the toughest schedule in the state — three consecutive road games at #5 San Bernardino Valley on Wednesday; at no-longer ranked Mt. San Jacinto and then at #7 San Diego City.
Sequoias, one of the eight remaining unbeaten teams, lands at No. 4. Interestingly, Sequoias has played a light north schedule. Four of the Giants' win have been against south programs. That trend will continue this week as Sequoias ventures further south on Friday to take on #13 Citrus, winners of four straight since opening the season with a two-point loss to #8 Mt. San Antonio.
#5 San Bernardino Valley's lone loss was a three-point heartbreaker to #1 San Francisco in the finals of the Alvin Hunter Classic at San Bernardino. After an 89-point win against Imperial Valley, the Wolverines will look to continue to take out their frustration with home games against #3 Fullerton and #15 Saddleback (Saturday). San Bernardino Valley will close out the month at previously ranked Santa Monica on November 26.
Las Positas, which began the season ranked #6 in north, lands at #6 statewide after four easy home wins. Apparently, the Hawks refuse to leave the nest, hosting Napa on Wednesday. Later this month, Las Positas plays its lone road contest — at Reedley on November 22. Las Positas closes out the month in its nest by hosting Marin on November 27. Las Positas, which will play four of six December contests on the road, won't meet a ranked team until December 7 when the Hawks face #20 Lassen at the James Clark Classic at Consumnes River.
San Diego City, a Final Eight participate last year, comes in at #7. The Knights armor took a hit with a season-opening four-point loss to West Valley. But since then, the Knights have won two straight headed into a four-game month closing span. Three of the four games will take place at the Home Motors Tournament at Allan Hancock College. San Diego City will meet unranked Barstow, #12 San Jose City and #21 Allan Hancosck before closing out the month by hosting #3 Fullerton on November 30. Another tough month-closing schedule.
Mt. San Antonio, another unbeaten program, rides in at No 8 this week. The Mounties will need their whole posse to finish the month unbeaten. Mt. San Antonio will host #9 Santiago Canyon — another unbeaten program — on Wednesday and then visit #28 Riverside on November 26 to close out the month. Three of #9 Santiago Canyon's five wins have come against ranked opponents. The score difference in those games — eight points. Santiago Canyon will close out November with four contests, three of them on the road before returning home on November 27 to meet Southwestern.
After losing to San Jose City to open the season, #10 Modesto has run off five victories. While none of the victories were particularly noteworthy, they were enough to keep them just inside the top 10 while edging our #11 Chabot by .032.
Next ranking will be released on December 2.
